McDonald was born in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, on June 4, 1999. He started high school at Casimir Pulaski High School and then switched to Waukesha North High School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. While there, he participated in basketball, track and field, and of course, football.
During his first year in college, McDonald made three tackles, including one where he brought down the quarterback, and he also managed to make the opponent fumble in four games. After this, he chose to not play for the remainder of the season and instead focus on practicing to improve. In his next year, which was his third year of college (although he didn’t play in his second year), McDonald was recognized as one of the best players in the Big 12 Conference and was awarded a first-team spot. This was because he achieved a remarkable feat of getting 10.5 sacks, which set a new record for his school and also tied for the most sacks across the whole country. He even managed to break his own sack record during his next year, which was his fourth year of college.
Even though he’s still quite young, McDonald has managed to become well-known in the college football realm. He’s gained recognition due to his strong work ethic, commitment, and natural skill. These qualities have enabled him to rise as one of the top defensive linemen across the nation.
